What I Do

Broadly, the goal of my program of research is to investigate the drivers of team and multiteam system performance in complex environments such as military operations and long-duration space exploration. Substantively, I seek to understand how emergent states develop within teams and multiteam systems, individual and collective constructs change over time, and how computational social science and quantitative research methods may be used and improved upon to advance these interests, as well as our understanding of teams and multiteam systems more generally.

Teams and Muliteam Systems

How can we effectively foster collaboration to solve complex problems?

Emergence and Team Cognition

How do emergent states such as transactive memory systems, mental models, and situation awareness develop from individual interactions?

Time and Processes

How can we incorporate time into our research in order to clarify the processes underlying psychological phenomena in teams?

Quantitative Research Methods

How can we utilize and improve upon current quantitative methodology to advance our understanding of teams?
